Ordering, pricing, policies
and procedures

To order, simply go to the Contact Me page and send me an email telling me what you have in mind. Once I receive your email, I will email you back with any pertinent questions about the job, and we will be able to agree on a price for that job and a timeframe. If we need to discuss it further, I will give you a phone number so that we can talk.

Bear in mind that I am located on the West coast of the United States, and and my hours of operation may be different than yours. I am generally available from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. I try to answer all emails within two hours.

Size does matter, at least as far as payment is concerned. Every job is different, and every job will have a different price, too. Like most people in my business, I generally work in thirds: one third of the agreed upon price before I start the job, one third when the roughs are approved, and the final third when the job is finished (but before it ships). On small jobs ($100 to $200) I split it in two: half before I start the job, and half when the job is finished (but before it ships). On very large jobs we can set up a payment schedule.

About checks and money orders. Yes, Dawsondoes gladly accepts checks, cashiers checks and money orders, but work cannot be performed until your check clears the bank. Add to that the time spent waiting for mail delivery and, on a job with a tight deadline, I may have to turn the job down because there won’t be enough time to do the job. Understand that I cannot do any work until I receive payment. There have been a few times in the past where I have done a job with a tight deadline before I received the money and, well, I’ll bet you can guess the rest; the check never came.

Art is a business. Art is how I make my living; it’s not a hobby. I became an artist to produce great art, not to be a collection agent. I want the money as agreed: no money, no art. I hope that doesn’t sound harsh, but too many people seem to think that the thirty-plus years that I’ve spent perfecting my craft have been for amusement: not so; I’m a professional and I charge for my work . . . just like you do.
